What is Time Logging?
Timelog refers to the process of recording and tracking the time spent on various tasks, issues, or projects.
As a core feature of TimePlanner, Time logging allows users to directly record their work time on specific tasks within Jira, offering valuable insights into project progress, resource allocation, and team productivity.

How to Log Your Time
1. Log Time in TimePlanner's Board
Go to the TeamBoard TimePlanner app → navigate to the Timelog tab:

If you have scheduled tasks in the period just simply enter the time and click log to log your time.
You can also log time for task which is not scheduled by clicking on the white space, a dialog will show up so you can log working time time or time off

Follow these steps below to effectively log your time on the board:
Open the Timelog section in the TeamBoard TimePlanner app.
Select a time range and choose the date you wish to log time for.
Find the task or event, enter the actual time spent in the Log Work section → click Log to save your entry.
If you want to add a new time entry:
Click on the "+" icon at the top of each day or select the "Log time" button.
This opens the Planning Dialog for time logging, then follow these steps:
Choose Task Type: Select the type of entry from the options — Task, Event, or Other.
For Task: You can choose an existing issue or click New Issue to create a new one directly from this dialog.
Set Time Spent: Enter the duration of time spent on the task.
Select Date Time: Adjust the date and time fields to specify when the work was completed.
Save the Entry: click Log time to save the entry.
2. Log Time on the Jira Issue Detail
Additionally, TimePlanner allows users to log time directly within the Jira Issue Detail:
Go to Jira Issue → Navigate to Apps → open the TeamBoard TimePlanner panel.
Then click on “Add Timelog” where you input the time spent on them.
Once you have entered the Date and time along with Spent time.
Add notes under Description for the worklog on that date (optional)
Click the “Logtime” button to save the time log for the issue.

1. Start Timer in TimePlanner Board
a. From the Issue card:
Select a specific task and press the Timer button.
Your work duration for this issue will begin recording automatically.
Once you complete the task, click Finish to save the entry to your work log for the current day.
b. Using the Start Timer button:
Click the Start Timer button.
Select an existing task or click New Issue to create a new one.
Click Start to activate the timer for this task.
When you're finished, click Finish to stop the timer and complete the entry.
2. Start Timer on the Jira Issue Detail
You can start the timer directly from the Jira issue detail page to track your time for a specific issue. Here’s how:
Open the Jira Issue → Access to Apps → Select TeamBoard TimePlanner → Click on the Start Timer button.
As you work, the timer will continue running and recording your work duration automatically.
When you’ve finished, click Stop on the timer → Your recorded time will be automatically saved to your work log history for future reference.
How to Edit or Remove Your Work Logs
1. From the TimePlanner Board
The app allows you to edit or delete work logs after they’ve been logged.
Simply hover over the task card and click the edit icon to open the work logs detail
→ where you can update the time spent, date & time stamp or add Notes (optional).
To delete a work log, click on the X icon to remove it.
2. On the Jira Issue Detail
Open the Jira Issue → Access the TeamBoard TimePlanner → In the Work Log details section, locate the work log entry you want to modify:
To edit, click on the button to make your changes, and save the update.
To remove, click on the to delete it from the work log.
Additional Tips for Effective Time Logging
1. Issue Box for Quick Time Logging
Utilize the Issue Box to quickly locate tasks from the Jira Projects or faster time logging. Here's how:
Filter tasks using the Basic Filter or JQL to sort and display relevant tasks.
Simply drag and drop a task from the Issue Box onto the board.
Input the time spent directly to log your work → click on OK to finish the process.
2. Log Time for Non-Task or Special Events
In addition to logging time for specific tasks, TimePlanner allows you to log time for non-task activities or special events, such as meetings, training sessions, or other work.

On the board, click New Timelog to open the Planning Dialog:
Select Event or Other as the type.
Add details, including the time spent and date, or notes are optional.
Click Log Time to finalize the entry.
3. Customize the Timelog view
View Settings in the board offers options to customize the information on the time log view, such as displaying week, day, weekend, or daily capacity.
