Overview

Jira Issue Panels allow you to configure and customize the AssetIT panels displayed in your Jira issues. These panels help streamline asset management directly within Jira, providing access to essential AssetIT resources and tools.

The available panels include:

  • Asset Booking: Allows users to request assets directly from AssetIT within Jira issues. (Refer to the Asset Booking guide)

  • Linked Assets: Enables linking of any resources from AssetIT to Jira issues for quick reference and management.

  • Resources Embedded: Displays detailed information on all resources assigned to a selected user (default is the Issue Reporter) within a Jira issue.

Setting Up the Panels for Your Software Projects

  1. Go to the Jira project where you want to add AssetIT panels.

  2. In the project view, click on Project Settings at the bottom of the left sidebar.

  1. Access AssetIT Integration

    • In Project Settings, scroll to the Apps section on the left sidebar.

    • Click on AssetIT Integration.

  1. Enable AssetIT Integration

    • In the AssetIT Integration settings, toggle on Enable AssetIT integration for this project to activate the panels for this project.

Enable AssetIT integration for this project is disabled by default. Toggle it on to start using AssetIT panels.

Selecting Issue Types for Configuration

  • On the left side of the AssetIT Integration screen, you’ll see a list of Issue Types (e.g., Task, Epic, Subtask). Use this section to select which issue types you want to configure for AssetIT panels.

  • Check the box next to each issue type where you want the AssetIT panels to be enabled. Only the selected issue types will display the configured panels in their Jira issues.

Configuring The Panels

1. Asset Booking Panel

  • What is the Asset Booking panel? The Asset Booking panel allows users to request assets directly from AssetIT without leaving the Jira issue. This simplifies asset requests by making them accessible from within Jira.

  • Toggle On the Asset Booking panel to enable it for your project.

2. Linked Assets Panel

  • What is the Linked Assets panel? The Linked Assets panel lets you connect and display resources from AssetIT within your Jira issues, making it easy to access relevant assets directly.

  • Toggle On to enable the Linked Assets panel for your project.

  • Configure Fields:

    • Resources: Choose the resource type(s) you want to display in this panel. Options include 5 resource types: image-20241104-092012.png, image-20241104-092040.png , image-20241104-092124.png , image-20241104-092157.png, image-20241104-092350.png. If left blank, it will show all available resources.

    • Inventories: Select the inventory(ies) you want this panel to display resources from. If left blank, it will display resources from all inventories.

    • Resource Filter:

      • Only show available/unassigned resources: Displays resources that are not currently assigned to anyone.

      • Only show resources of the reporter: Displays resources assigned specifically to the Issue Reporter.

      • Only show resources of the assignee: Displays resources assigned to the user currently assigned to the issue.

3. Resources Embedded Panel

  • What’s the Resources Embedded panel? The Resources Embedded panel provides a view of all resources assigned to a selected user within the Jira issue.

By default, the panel displays resources assigned to the Issue Reporter, but you can adjust this to show resources for other users as needed.

  • Toggle On to enable the Resources Embedded panel for the project.
