Log Time for Events and Custom Tasks
TeamBoard TimePlanner enables users to log time not only for Jira tasks but also for specific events and custom tasks.
This guide offers step-by-step instructions for accurately tracking time spent on non-standard activities, such as meetings, workshops, and customized tasks.
Note: These activities are separate from Jira Issues and can only be created or managed within the TimePlanner app.
How to Log Time for Events and Custom Tasks
1. Log Time in Calendar View
Step 1:
Access to Timelog tab and switch to the Calendar view.
Step 2:
option 1 Find the scheduled event, enter the actual time spent in the Log Work section → click Log to save your entry.
option 2 Click on the "+" icon at the top of each day or select the "Log time" button → Open the Planning Dialog for time logging.
In the Planning Dialog:
Choose Event or Others (Custom Task) as the task type.
For Event: From the dropdown menu, search for existing events
For Custom Tasks: choose Other from the task type options.
Add task details, including the name, time spent, date, and optional description.
Step 3: Click Log time to save the entry.
2. Log Time in List View
Step 1: Access the Timelog tab and switch to the List View.
Step 2: To log time for events or custom tasks:
Locate the date column in the task table.
Enter the time spent directly or click + Create to open the Planning Dialog.
For Event: From the dropdown menu, search for existing events
For Custom Tasks: choose Other from the task type options.
Step 3: Fill in the required details and click Log time to save.
3. Log Time using the Start Timer
The Start Timer feature allows you to track your work time in real-time. Once you press stop, the timer will log your work entry for the current day.
Click the Start Timer button.
Select Other to create a new custom task or event.
Click Start to activate the timer for this event.
When you're finished, click Finish to stop the timer and complete the entry.
How to Edit or Delete Your Work Logs
1. From the Calendar View
Simply hover over the task card and click the edit icon to open the work logs detail
→ where you can update the time spent, date & time or add Notes (optional).
To delete a work log, click on the X icon to remove it.
2. From the List View
Simply hover over your work logs → click the edit icon to open the work logs detail
From there, you can:
Update the time spent, adjust the date and time, or add optional notes.
View the total logged time, add more work logs, or delete the current work log.
Additional Tips for Time Logging
1. Issue Box for Quick Time Logging
Utilize the Issue Box to quickly locate tasks from the Jira Projects or faster time logging. Here's how:
Filter tasks using the Basic Filter or JQL to sort and display relevant tasks.
Simply drag and drop a task from the Issue Box onto the board.
Input the time spent directly to log your work → click on OK to finish the process.
2. Customize the Timelog view
View Settings in the board offers options to customize the information on the time log view, such as displaying week, day, weekend, or daily capacity.
